Cats are considered to be blessed creatures of extraordinary fortune in certain cultures, and this cat is no exception.

According to an ABC Australia story, the incident happened over Sunday evening when the Burr family found their cat after it was washed.

They searched all over the house but could not find their beloved 6 month old cat. As Burr was looking in the laundry basket, she accidentally saw the cat inside the washing machine which was washing with clothes.

Ben immediately stopped the washing machine. The cat had suffered serious injuries due to the spin of the washing machine and laundry detergent.

Poppy lived miraculously after spending 30 minutes locked inside a front-loading washing machine.

“I think she got into the washing machine as I picked up the rest of the clothes … if she was in the basket, I would have felt it when I got the clothes,” Ms Burr said.

Poppy was weak, and could barely breathe when they found her and we believed she was dead. The lady said, “The children are still traumatized by this.”

Poppy was brought to the hospital and treated by Dr. Tim Laws, a 32-year-old veterinarian. He shouted, “I’ve seen some weird things in my time, but I’ve never seen a cat do this before.”

She suffered from water in her lungs as well as head trauma and a severely damaged eye. She had also suffered a concussion. Oh awful! What a pity for the kitten!

Poppy has no fractures or lasting damage despite almost completed a full wash cycle. Poppy will live to meow again thanks to the veterinarians’ prompt and skilled care.

Poppy has apparently returned to normal about three weeks after her trauma. Phew!

The family was first worried that the cat might harbor a grudge or be traumatized, but it appears that the beautiful feline has already moved on.

“I was concerned after what occurred that she wouldn’t like us, that she wouldn’t allow us embrace her or pick her up, but she’s completely normal now… She’s healed completely and is back to her old habits of running and jumping off furniture. You’d have no idea.

There were many reactions on the Internet. One of them had written; Keep washing machine doors closed even when you do not have clothes to wash.

We are simply relieved that Poppy is well and hope its owners learn to be more careful in the future. What do you think about this incident? Tell us about your experiences in the comments!
