Isn’t it true that the bigger the cat, the better because there’s more of it to snuggle with? Of course, as long as the cat is healthy and content. So prepare to witness an adorable obese kitty.
Let me introduce you to Fat Fred. He’s a cute chonky cat who went popular after someone uploaded images of a veterinarian clinic and its amusing placards to the internet. The sign’s purpose was most likely to address queries that patients at the vet clinic or random passers-by would have when they first saw Fred.
We will have to give it over to the clinic; it certainly knows how to get people’s attention. We particularly like the Spanish post-it note in the upper right corner, which reads, “El Gato más gordo Fat Fred,” which translates to “The fattest cat Fat Fred.”
We contacted Imgurian KneeAppallingTanIceCream, who had shared the story of the obese cat online, and they were delighted to speak with them.
“As I was walking by, I happened to look down and read the amusing posters. Who doesn’t want to see a 28lb cat?” I thought as I walked to the window to see whether Fred was there.

A funny sign about Fat Fred the cat hangs outside this vet clinic
“Because the sun was blinding me, I tried to take a picture from the side and ended up with a pepper ghost effect. KneeAppallingTanIceCream said that, “Which I didn’t even know was a thing until this post.”
“Unfortunately, the vet was closed that day, so I could only look out the window at the cute cat. Despite the window, he was quite lively. In terms of slimming down a cat, a good cat food combined with some daily activity should assist. I’m about to go on a trip out of state, but I’ll pay Fred a visit when I return after the holidays.”
The clinic made some amusing references about Fred’s fondness for sitting on tiny children and his struggles with his diet. It’s also amusing that the clinic recommended that those who wish to adopt a cat look for “smaller models.”
Fat Fred was well-liked by Imgurians, with over 3,400 of them upvoting the post within a day. Others remarked on how enormous he was, while others chuckled at the Spanish post-it, and yet others pointed out how Fat Fred, ironically, appears transparent in the shot.
Cats require a healthy diet as well as plenty of exercise
Regardless of how much we adore our chubby felines, the truth is that being overweight is hazardous for them (and other animals) and can severely reduce their longevity.
If you see that your cat needs to lose weight and become healthy, the first thing you should do is consult your veterinarian, who will tell you how many Kit-Kats your overweight cat should consume each day. Your veterinarian will also prescribe an exercise program for your cat to ensure that weight fluctuations are kept to a minimum.
According to Pet MD, the best foods for cats to lose weight are those that are high in protein, fiber, and moisture content. The latter two aid in your cat’s feeling full so that it does not become hungry right after eating.
As a result, wet food is always preferable over dry food. Cat food that is heavy in carbs and fats should also be avoided. Finally, just because you’re on a diet doesn’t mean you can’t indulge in a cheat meal now and then. Treats should account for no more than 10% of your cat’s daily calorie intake, according to veterinarians. Remember that if your cat is begging for food, it may be starving for your attention rather than yummy goodies.
