A big bald eagle nearly flew off with a small Yorkshire Terrier named Coco after snatching it off a porch in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, as seen on surveillance video footage.
On June 19, Justin Dudoward uploaded the video to his Facebook page, where it received close to 300,000 views.
Although many viewers were delighted to see that Coco was able to escape the eagle’s grasp and rush back into the home, the 23-second film astounded viewers.
Coco was on the porch when the eagle suddenly swooped down and snatched her up in Dudoward’s video. As the bird flew away from the camera, one could hear Coco’s cries.
The small dog managed to escape the eagle in some way, and she is seen scurrying back inside the house.
Dudoward claimed in an interview with USA Today’s For the Win that he just heard Coco’s sobbing and did not witness her being grabbed by the eagle.
Although there are many eagles in the neighborhood, he told Newsweek that it is uncommon for them to fly into people’s yards.
Despite having a puncture wound and a damaged gut, Coco made a full recovery at the clinic within three to four days.
