Back in 2016, being founded in a basement of an elderly man’s house by a worker who visited the owner, this poor Persian kitty (named Sinbad) was covered with not less than 5-pound stinking matted fur for so many years lacking of grooming.

He had to deal with the problem of being immobile, he could barely walk because of the heavy ugly excrement and maggots. Luckily, investigators of The Anti-Cruelty Society of Chicago received word of this poor kitten’s situation from the worker, and they immediately intervened.

They convinced the elderly man and he agreed to surrender Sinbad to the local shelter. His new chapter began.

“It really did look like he was dragging a carpet behind him.” said Colette Bradley, a spokeswoman for the society when she first saw Sinbad.

“He was tired, you could tell.”

After hours for carefully shaving and giving him a nice bath, it was reported he turned into a whole new kitty!

“The poor kitty was grateful for any affection he received as he had his cocoon of mats removed,” Elliot Serrano, one of the shelter workers, posted on Instagram.

The shelter staff said he was totally 11 pounds but half of it was matted fur which made him distressfully struggle with walking, he was actually severely malnourished…

Surprisingly, Elliot volunteered to foster Sinbad when The shelter closed during Christmas weekend when they were looking for someone to give a kitty a temporary home. After 2 days being at Elliot’s house, the kitty gave him affection and trust after all what Sinbad had been through, still. The man was melted wholeheartedly and decided to be his forever human dad!

Moreover, Elliot the cat dad created an Instagram account named Sinbad The Survivor just to let the world know how brave and how sweet he is. He now has thousands of followers who all love seeing what Sinbad get up to in his daily life.

Sinbad “is the perfect story to tell and share,” Serrano said. “He’s a perfect example of what it’s like when people step up and show they care and intervene for those in need.”

Now he’s like an unrecognizable Persian kitty with fluffy white coat, it’s hard to believe that he was neglected by the ugly past right?
