Cats are well-known for having distinct personalities. They may stare at you suspiciously with those huge, blazing eyes at first, but once you gain their trust, they are yours. Forever and always. Matthew B. had a great time with this beautiful kitty.
In Matthew’s 18-wheeler, they traveled across America together. These two pals have been together for years, and their affection for one another is very obvious. But something happened to divide the two best friends, and nothing has been the same since.
Everything Changed in a Single Moment.
Matthew made a pit break in Springfield, Ohio in July of last year. During the break, Ashes, his beloved feline, inadvertently exited the vehicle and vanished. Matthew searched in every direction, trying to see his furry friend, but he couldn’t find him. Ashes had left no trace, and Matthew had given all hope.
A Fresh Start.
Matthew was upset when he realized he would have to complete the journey without Ashes. He ultimately drove away, but not before making an arrangement. Matthew plotted his trips for the following several months in order to return to the spot where he had lost Ashes. If he didn’t find Ashes the first time, he’d return several times to make sure he’d examined every nook and cranny.

Ashes, on the other hand, was doing his best to stay alive in the hopes that his human would finally discover him. The cat had been missing for months before being discovered by a lady. Kimberley T. noticed a scared cat hiding in a bush. Ashes was cold and hungry, so the woman decided to take him in.
When Ashes Turned to Smoke.
Smokey was his given name by Kimberley. She then transported him to the Newport, New York-based Lollypop Farm animal rescue organization. At Lollypop Farm, Smokey was checked for a microchip, and it was discovered that he wasn’t Smokey at all, but Ashes!
The Happily Ever After.
Matthew got a note five months after his cat Ashes vanished that not only brightened his day but also made him really happy. His cat was safe and well, and he would soon be reunited with him. He couldn’t believe his good fortune. He changed his travel plans one final time and flew to New York, where Ashes awaited him.
Joyful Tears.
Matthew couldn’t keep the tears from welling up in his eyes as he saw Ashes. They were reunited at long last, and Ashes was thrilled to see his cat-father again. Allow their happy ending to serve as a constant reminder of the importance of microchipping your pets. Ashes would have never been discovered if it hadn’t been for the microchip, and Matthew would have lost his fur-buddy forever.
Ashes and Matthew are finally on the lane together, where they belong. And nothing will be able to deter them from taking their road excursions. We’re hopeful that nothing will ever be able to separate these two friends again. Have a pleasant journey!
