Souzi, a female Greek Kokkoni, resided in a village where some locals provided her with food and water. Sadly, none of them took the initiative to have her spayed, resulting in an inevitable outcome.
She gave birth on the cold, hard concrete of a yard, and three days later, tragedy struck when she was struck by a car, evident from her injured hind leg.
Recognizing the urgency and the fact that Souzi was still nursing her precious pups, The Diasozo Animal Rescue Team had no option but to take her and her four puppies to the veterinarian. Despite the late hour on a Sunday evening, vet Rania administered pain relief and scheduled a thorough assessment for the following morning.
For now, Souzi and her babies are safe, well-fed, hydrated, and provided with comfort. Their immediate needs are being met, and the team is working diligently to ensure they receive the comprehensive care they require. Souzi’s resilience shines through as she continues to nurse her little ones, who stay close to their mother’s side.
It is difficult to fathom that such a beautiful and loving dog like Souzi would be left to fend for herself as a stray in northern Europe or the United States.
Early the next morning, vet Rania carefully examined Souzi to evaluate the extent of her injuries. As expected, her leg is in a severe condition, with fractures in two places and damaged skin. Consequently, Souzi and her puppies will remain under Rania’s care for a while.
Thankfully, Souzi can comfortably nurse her pups without any complications, and due to their young age, they remain close to their mother. Souzi’s journey to recovery has begun, and with the diligent efforts of The Diasozo Animal Rescue Team, everything will be done to set things right for her.
